Col. Devens - Head of Engineering Fundamentals


During summer orientation, after a university wide session the incoming freshmen broke out by colleges. Col Devens started with "Well, you all just saw a nice artsy film about campus life here at Virginia Tech - well you all can forget about that because you are engineers and you are going to have to study" He followed that with, "Look to your left and look to your right - only one of you will graduate in Engineering."

His statement was true, my graduating class in Engineering was about one-third of the size of the entering class.
